Cactus Monday: Aloe Vera in Rabbit Pot

Aloe Vera Watercolor Drawing
Terracotta Rabbit Pot 5 x 8 Moleskin Sketchbook

Photo of Aloe Vera in Terracotta pot in garden

Our Aloe Vera has been climbing out of its rabbit terracotta pot for several years. We leave it in the garden every summer where it flourishes and Lew takes it to his office during the winter where it languishes and turns a little pale. We have always thought that Aloe Vera was a type of cactus until I started researching it for my Cactus Monday drawing. Alas, it is a member of the lily family more like garlic than cactus. That seems so wrong. We have a small pot close to the house and bring it inside in the winter. In China it is called the "harmonic remedy". We have always kept Aloe in the house for burns and consider it an essential. I love this name HARMONIC REMEDY. Plus when I look at the rabbit pot, it makes me smile.

Sadly, the rabbit has a big crack and may not last many more summers.

It is beautifully done Judy. You know I should really call this Cactus Succulent Monday as they are such close cousins and so many people get mixed up on them.

I have an aloe plant just for the medicinal purpose on bites and burns.

A beautiful aloe drawing. I didn't know Aloe was in the lily family. I did know it was good for burns etc. It must have fallen out of favor around here because I had a hard time finding a start of it for my Dad a few years ago when the tornado destroyed his house and everything in it. I now keep a piece of it growing just in case someone needs a start.

Most people who like cacti, also adore succulents, so they seem to work for Cactus Monday. I love your Aloe Vera in Rabbit Pot drawing and photo, they are both delightful. :)

I love the pot. I don't have any aloe plants on hand but can testify to their usefulness. I should get one now that I think of it. HCM means Haitian Christian Mission to me, but I finally figured out it meant Happy Cactus Monday! HCM to all of you!
